JarJarJr presents Soul Service with Kassa Overall, Bricknasty & the Sam Healy Quartet
Joining the dots between Brooklyn, Ballymun and Cork City. Jarjarjr’s Soul Service sees St. Luke’s Church become a melting pot of the most exciting and experimental voices in hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul right now.
Kassa Overall is a Grammy-nominated musician, emcee, singer, producer and drummer. A product of New York City’s jazz scene who melds avant-garde experimentation with hip-hop production techniques to tilt the nexus of jazz and hip-hop in unmapped directions.
Bricknasty emerged from Ballymun at the beginning of 2020 and is rapidly becoming one of the most talked about live acts in Ireland. Primed to support Hiatus Kaiyote and Cordae this year, their infectious energy, soulful chords and woozy vocals combine R&B, hip-hop and an anarchic musical approach that stems from singer Fatboy’s roots in the Balbutcher Lane flats.
Jarjarjr, once hailed as Ireland’s producer supreme, is poised to deliver an impassioned sermon of guttural rhymes to the congregation at St. Lukes church. Trading in the familiarity of sample heavy production in favour of jazz oriented sonic vignettes, the Cork native steps with a home field advantage into the limelight as an emcee. To lift your spirits even higher, he brings with him an ensemble of elite Lee side musicians headed up by Sam Healy.
This Soul Service is sure to be the spark that sets the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival ablaze.
